When you live on a farm, you experience all sides of animal life. Generally they coexist happily together, but I won't lie and say I haven't witnessed bloody dog fights, agressive rams, or pushy cows. Knowing the "dark side" of animals means that you'd better appreciate moments where the animals are being gentle and friendly with each other. This picture is a favorite of mine because it highlights one of those moments. I was in the pasture walking around with my camera when I spotted our heifer, Autumn, and James, one of our billies, touching cheeks. They stayed there for a moment, seemingly enjoying the connection, before breaking away and going back to grazing. Sharing connections doesn't have to be big or monumentally unique, all it takes is sharing part of yourself.
