Every time I see the animals eating the native Yukka plants, my face hurts for them. If you aren't familiar with Yukka, it's deceptively weak and green spikes are actually incredibly tough and very sharp. Pulling a spike out, not to mention eating it, is a remarkable feat. After walking through the pasture of contentedly grazing animals, I spotted Fauna, one of our young doelings from that spring, nibbling with great pleasure on one of the spiky Yukka plants. It created a beautiful, if dangerous, setting, and I didn't hesitate to snap a picture.
